Su-Anne brought a Chinese newspaper this morning. Next to one of the striking headlines was a photograph of a lady. Ironically, behind the made-up face of lipstick and faded eyeliner, there was no spirit, she looked down and out, as if her life is just wasted and pointless...almost. She is 24, worked as a bar girl, drowned herself with sleeping pills, didnt wake up for 3 days and nites, stole for her married boyfriend who is 17 years her senior to clear his debt, had abortion 3 times (this guy ought to be shot), sentenced to 17 months jail for stealing and fraud. What's further poignant about this is that she studied in SCGS all her life, was Su-Anne's classmate at NP, Mass Comm. and was one of the top students. Her life had everything going for her (seemingly), good job, writes well...until the day she met the man at a lounge for a friends' gathering. Yes, the paper claimed he was good looking and charming. Was this the reason for her to do everything she chose to do? Or mayb was the fact that she did not have a father figure since she was 3 (her parents were divorced), that she always worked hard for her mother and she 'finally' found a reason in this man. Her own reason good enough to keep her going, living. Whilst I think this man is a bastard, and many people will say that she is stupid, I hope that one day, we will all know, truly, why she, or like many others like her, took this path.
