Japan vs. Australia

Great start to World Cup, exciting 1st match with goals galore between Germany and Costa Rica 4 - 2 respectively. Fast paced, clear passes, competitive and tackles, both just and unjust.

Speaking of unjust tackles...I'm writing this fuming and feeling absolutely sympathetic towards the Japanese. More so because I begun watching the game with no expectations and no preferential support for a team. What the Japanese lacked in physical presence, they made up with their fighting might and spirit, running their best and about like monkeys and showing off their nifty foot-work.

But, I think the Australians must have mistaken football for rubgy. They were banging the Japanese up, elbowing them, knicking their ankles, and yet, no sense of apology, embarassment, nor handshakes. This is afterall World Cup. At the end of the day, sportsmanship should rule the day. But noooo...they continued with their roguish ways and best of all, the only arbritarian authority just kept missing it - once, twice, thrice, and on and on...it just became very obvious he was biased. I'm sure there's going to be numerous reports tomorrow expressing similar infuriation in the papers.

So from 1 up to Japan in the 1st half, to a draw at 82nd minnute, then 2-1 to Australia at 90th min. and finally, 3-1 to the undeserved Kangaroos at the 92nd.

This is one win I strongly did not think was deserved. Funny...as I'm writing this, I found that ESPN had prior reported about how the Aussies are a 'dirty team'. I say 'Yo'right mate!".
